Craftsmanship

Craftsmanship is the gift to design and/or build things which support ministry.

How this gift helps

  • Use wood, cloth, paints, and other supplies to make things which enhance the effectiveness of other ministries.
  • Meet tangible needs by using assorted tools and manual skills.
  • May find that others see them as "handy" or "creative".

Ways to misuse this gift

  • May perceive their gift as "unworthy" or "lowly" rather than a valuable contribution to the body of believers.
  • May focus on getting tasks done and ignore or run roughshod over people who need help in their spiritual growth.
  • May find it hard to remember that the things they make are tools in service to the Lord rather than the objective.

Scriptures

  • "Then the LORD said to Moses, 'See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts- to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship. ...Also I have given skill to all the craftsmen to make everything I have commanded you: the Tent of Meeting, the ark of the Testimony with the atonement cover on it.... They are to make them just as I commanded you.'" - Exodus 31:1-11
